Zero Waste Pattern Cutting
Holly McQuillan is a Zero Waste Pattern designer, educator and researcher. She studied fashion design at Massey University College of Creative Arts in Wellington, New Zealand and began designing Zero Waste garments in 2004. She has delivered master classes and lectures worldwide, including in New Zealand, the UK, Taiwan and the US, and has participated in exhibitions in Wellington, Sydney, Chicago, New York, and Seoul.
McQuillan has written numerous papers and book chapters on ZWPC, e.g. in Shaping sustainable fashion: Changing the way we make and use clothes (2011; eds. T. Rissanen & A. Gwilt). She was curator of ‘Yield: Making Fashion without Making Waste’ and initiated The Cutting Circle, a global collective of creative pattern cutters including Timo Rissanen and Julian Roberts. McQuillan is currently working with one of the world’s leading fashion producers to design their inaugural ZW fashion collection.
